Andy Cox has worked for Rethink Group at its offices in Southwark for the past seven years.

His success in his role comes from the unique proposition he offers to his candidates; a pastoral service which sees him take them under his wing, training them and offering a coaching service to assist with everything from CV preparation to interview techniques; “Those relationships are vital to my success,” Andy says.

He continues: “I make sure I’m involved in every aspect of each candidate’s job search. It’s important to me that they feel in a position to be able to ask me anything, and are confident going into each stage of the recruitment process. It’s extremely rewarding to see a candidate fulfil their career ambitions and I always do everything I can to help them achieve this.”

Andy’s efforts haven’t gone unnoticed; late last year the REC crowned him Recruiter of the Year and Permanent Consultant of the Year – the highest industry accolade an individual can receive. “I’m glad that my drive and determination and the unique way I work with candidates was recognised at the IRP Awards.” He adds: “I have a strong desire to be successful in what I do and be one of the leaders in my field – these awards have helped that cause.”

Whilst Andy is always searching for ways to improve his own performance, he’s also big on sharing his knowledge and experience with his colleagues to help develop theirs.

Andy’s colleague and long-time Rethinker, Paul Glover, explains: “Andy is quite simply, a phenomenal and inspirational recruiter. I joined Rethink as Andy's resourcer and that period I spent working for him was the best training I could ever have received. The sheer quality service that he provides is second to none and I think I owe a lot of my success to the knowledge he has imparted to me.

“To this day he's still a great mentor/trainer; last week I took up about an hour of his time getting advice on a tricky client negotiation, and I'm always asking his advice on tactical situations, but more than that, the standards that he sets, and the calm, considered, quality approach he brings to recruitment is massively inspirational and an example to us all.”
